One of the most famous reports of the Grafton Monster occurred June 16, 1964 a man named Robert Cockrell was driving along the Tygart river on Route 119 around 11pm on his way home from work. Near the river he spotted a large white creature lumbering along the road, as he stopped to observe it he noticed it having smooth white seal like skin and a massive muscular build not seeing a neck or head with it’s build and posture. The man also heard a whistling sound in the background thought maybe to be from a ship or alien craft. The creature moved quickly out of view. After the initial shock of seeing this the man quickly drove off. Searches were made later but nothing found.

There were over 20 other sightings in the Grafton area around this time with reports of strange whistling sounds and bright lights coming or leaving the area.
